protect your cigars and preserve your luxury accessory.
1. Preparing Your Humidor Before First Use
Important: Your new cedar wood humidor must be seasoned before storing cigars.
Seasoning allows the dry cedar wood to gradually absorb moisture so it does not draw moisture
away from your cigars.
Step 1 — Purchase an 84% Humidity Seasoning Packet
We recommend Boveda 84% RH seasoning packets specifically designed for wooden
humidors.
Step 2 — Prepare the Empty Humidor
- Remove all cigars and loose accessories.
- Keep the wooden dividers and supports in place.
- Remove the outer plastic wrapping from your Boveda seasoning packet, but never cut open
the packet itself.
- Place the recommended number of packets inside the empty humidor.
Step 3 — Allow 14 Days for Seasoning
Close the humidor securely and leave it unopened for 14 consecutive days.
This allows the cedar wood to absorb moisture gradually. Although some seasoning methods
take only a few days, Boveda recommends a full 14 days when using its 84% seasoning
packets.
Step 4 — Replace With a 69% Humidity Packet
After 14 days:
1. Open the humidor and remove the 84% seasoning packets.
2. Discard the used seasoning packets.
3. Insert a fresh 69% RH humidity-control packet.
4. Place your cigars inside once the humidor is properly conditioned.
Never store cigars with 84% seasoning packets. That humidity level is intended for conditioning
empty wood, not cigar storage.
2. Maintaining Your Cigars With 69% Humidity Packets
After seasoning, we recommend 69% RH two-way humidity-control packets for routine cigar
storage.
These packets help regulate moisture by releasing or absorbing water vapor as needed.
- Place the packet where air can circulate freely.
- Keep the humidor closed when not in use.
- Use a digital hygrometer to monitor humidity.
- Check your packet regularly and replace it when it becomes hard or depleted.
- Never mix 84% seasoning packets with 69% maintenance packets.
For reference, Boveda recommends one Size 60 seasoning packet for every 25 cigars of the
humidor's rated capacity. Follow the packet manufacturer's sizing guidance for maintenance as
well.
3. Caring for Your Cedar Wood Interior
- Keep the interior clean using a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.
- Never use furniture polish, perfume, harsh chemicals, or scented cleaning products inside the
humidor.
- Avoid pouring water directly onto the cedar wood or wiping it with a wet sponge.
- Keep the humidor away from direct sunlight, heaters, and excessive heat.
- Avoid overpacking the compartments; leave room for airflow.
- Periodically inspect the hinges, clasp, dividers, and wooden supports.
4. Caring for Your Luxury Humidor Purse Exterior
Pearl Handles: Gently wipe with a soft cloth. Avoid perfume, liquid cosmetics, excessive
moisture, and pulling or twisting the handles.
Gold Brass Handles and Hardware: Polish gently with a dry microfiber cloth. Avoid abrasive
cleaners and harsh chemicals that may damage the finish.
Rhinestone Exterior (where applicable): Gently clean with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid soaking,
scrubbing, and prolonged exposure to moisture.

proper humidity is essential for protecting your cigars.
Because a purse-style humidor may be opened frequently or exposed to changing
temperatures, check its humidity regularly. If the humidor cannot maintain the appropriate
humidity, transfer cigars to a properly sealed storage container. Be sure to store your humidor
